EDWARD CHESTER
When and why did you decide to join the military and where were you located when you made this decision?
I made the decision while in my senior year of high school. After reading many different books on the subject, the idea of working/flying on helicopters seemed more enjoyable to me than college.
Where did you serve during your time in uniform?
Camp Stanley & K16 Korea, Soto Cano Honduras, Ft Campbell Kentucky, Bagram Afghanistan, Ft Rucker Alabama, El-Gorah Egypt, Schofield Barracks/Wheeler Airfield Hawaii
What were some of your key memories during your time of service?
Flying over the jungles of Central America and around an active volcano. Working with some excellent people to recover aircraft that had broken down in the field.
What is an important value that you took away from your military experience?
Planning and preparation will make any job both easier and faster. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
What advice would you give someone interested in joining the military?
Take your time in choosing what job and branch you are interested in. The military is a long-term commitment that requires some sacrifice on your behalf.
