CHRISTOPHER NAUMANN
When and why did you decide to join the military and where were you located when you made this decision?
Family tradition. I was always expected to enlist. Every male in my family enlisted.
Where did you serve during your time in uniform?
Far East, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Beirut, Okinawa.
What were some of your key memories during your time of service?
Camaraderie is very important. Traveling was good. Got to see a lot of the world. I keep in touch with the men. Combat was awful and I can't talk about it.
What is an important value that you took away from your military experience?
Loyalty. I come to the Vet Hospital every single day to be with the men who served with me. If I have a problem, they help me. It's like one big family.
What advice would you give someone interested in joining the military?
World is in a pretty bad state now. You're putting your life on the line in the military. I suffered traumatic brain injury and PTSD. Doctors at Vet Hospital helped me with it.
